7 shifts I made to build freedom into my business

7 shifts I made to build freedom into my business

This past year has been a time of transition and restructuring for me (if you follow me on Instagram you've probably noticed me talking a lot about this). One thing I always wanted with every single business I started was freedom. Yes, financial freedom but mostly freedom of time.

I wanted to be able to take a random day off at the drop of a hat to do something I love. Travel more. Run errands in the middle of the workday. All while building a thriving business.

But I was never intentional about structuring my businesses to provide this environment for myself. I thought once I made X amount of dollars it would allow me to create some freedom... but that was never the case.

I just got more and more stressed.

So when I decided to walk away from my previous business, I knew I needed to do things very differently this time around so I've been really cognizant about building in the freedom I've always wanted into my business.

So wtf does that even look like?

HERE'S WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING ON A REGULAR BASIS TO NOT ONLY SHIFT MY MINDSET BUT LOGISTICALLY MAKE THIS A POSSIBILITY FOR MYSELF:

  1. Schedule in down time and/or running errands during the workday to reprogram my brain.

  2. When I find myself stressed and overloaded with work, I reflect on what I could do differently to avoid this in the future.

  3. Learning I don't have to reach for more if I hit my monthly goal early.

  4. Evaluating if my pricing allows me to make enough with the flexibility I want in my schedule.

  5. Getting comfortable not responding to people immediately and/or putting up an out of office message and/or letting people know in advance I'll be MIA if I'm traveling or otherwise engaged and not working my normal hours.

  6. Regularly evaluating if I'm happy with my income to workload ratio and if I can/want to take on more (if not, I check in with #4 again).

  7. Learning my own cadence. When am I most productive? Do I need more rest during certain seasons? And then I plan accordingly.

In theory, I've always known these things but I've never intentionally integrated them into my daily life. This shift has been massive for me in bringing more joy and balance into my life... and not to mention more business too.

Because when you're operating from a place of joy, gratitude, and fun, business becomes easy. Another thing I've always known but haven't fully embodied until now 😉

So if you're looking for more freedom as an entrepreneur in the new year, I highly recommend using these tips and/or finding what works best for you. It may take some time, uncomfortable shifts, and adjustments to your business but oh babyyy does it feel good on the other side 🙌
